On Friday Evening: there will be Social Dancing/Music Jam session both from 7pm and Supper.
On Saturday: we’ll have workshops on Flat Footing, Buck Dancing and Appalachian Square Dancing all with Live Music; Musicians will have various workshops; as we wind down for the day we’ll have a BBQ (with vegetarian options) and get ready for the “Jarfly” awards. (A “dance-off” to live music)
On Sunday: More workshops & we’ll finish at Midday – so you can find your own lunch and head on home.
There will also be a demonstration by the East Coast Precision Dance Team.
Millthorpe is a picturesque village just outside of Orange NSW.

General Information about the event:
Let's get back to the true roots of clogging, to how it all began
in the Appalachian Mountains and have a Hoedown.
And that means a fiddle player, live music and traditional freestyle clogging.
An evening BBQ, Freestyle Flatfooting, Freestyle Buck Dancing and Appalachian Square Dancing and that's what you'll be learning and doing at Heeler's Hoedown.
There will also be an inaugural award the "Jarfly" (with different levels of dancing).

We will email the
schedule to all attendees closer to the event date so that you can think about which workshops you want to attend. Please note that times and workshops are subject to change at the discretion of

Venue :
Millthorpe is a short 20 minute drive from Orange – we can assist you with transportation from Orange to Millthorpe and back to Orange. Please contact us for more information
There are several cafes, restaurants and pubs (all which cater for gluten free).
There are many boutique and antique shops. It is scattered with Bed & Breakfasts, a small hotel, pub accommodation (or you may prefer to stay in Orange).
It is home to the Golden Memories Museum & everything is within walking distance
Millthorpe has a Newsagency & General Store (Fri – Sat 5am to 6pm; Sun 6am to 3pm) and a Chemist (Fri 8am to 6pm; Sat 8am to 1pm)
The event will be held at the Millthorpe Public School.
We have the use of their hall and undercover outdoor area. Dancing will be done on the wooden floor inside the hall.
Musicians will have access to air-conditioned demountable classrooms next door to the hall.

The School has asked us to comply with the following:
Weather:
Orange & Millthorpe are in a cool climate
area. We recommend packing a variety of clothes, including some warmer garments as Spring can be quite changeable (especially in the evening). Our BBQ will be in an outdoor undercover area
Non-Dancers/Non-Musicians:
You are welcome to attend
the weekend at a special rate OR there are a lot of things to do in and around Orange
Arrival:
Social dancing/Jam sessions will begin at
around 7pm with supper provided. Your evening meal will be at your own arrangements/cost. There will be Heelers Hoedown Helpers on-site to assist with Registration check-in.
Departure:
Heeler’s Hoedown finishes on Sunday at
midday (or earlier depending on your travel arrangements.)
You will need to make your own arrangements for lunch.
Transportation:.
Transport Options into and out of Orange
Orange has rail, bus and an airport (so that you can fly in).
Train – Orange Railway Station:
The XPT from Sydney
leaves at 7.10am and arrives at 12 noon daily to Orange Railway Station. It leaves Orange at 4.00pm. Visit www.transportnsw.info for more information.
Bus – Orange Railway Station:
Australia Wide Coaches
has a daily Sydney Express service to and from Sydney. It leaves Central Railway Station at 5.oopm and arrives in Orange at 9.00pm. They will pick up and drop off from Sydney Domestic. It
is approx $40.00 adult.
Fly – Orange Airport:
Flights arrive and depart from
Orange Airport. If you are arriving by plane please let us know so that we can arrange for someone to pick you up as it is a fair way out of town.
If you are arriving by public transport, please let us know and we can arrange for someone to meet you at the station to take you out to the venue or your accommodation.

the event commencing. A full refund will be made less a $20 Administration Fee

Merchandise for Sale
There will be some merchandise available
for sale throughout the weekend including:
· Handmade clogging shoes – from a local supplier in Orange (They are a full leather upper with metal eyelets, a rounded toe, internal padding and an extra piece of leather on the sole for comfort, available in white (special orders are available in black). Taps need to be purchased separately.
· There may also be other merchandise for sale such as Music CD’s.
· DVD – “The Encyclopedia of Traditional Appalachian Square Dancing” by Bill Nichols and Garland Steele

Things to do in and around
Orange & Millthorpe
Orange is a centrally-located town 3 ½ hours from Sydney (and about 4 hours from Canberra). We are a 45 minute drive from
Bathurst and 1 ½ hours from Dubbo. Millthorpe is a short 20 minute trip by car from Orange.
Some sightseeing suggestions are listed below:
· Millthorpe has the Golden Memories Museum. For a fascinating history on the rich agricultural area,(it has working displays of how the old agricultural equipment worked) http://www.millthorpemuseum.com/
· There are winery tours and tastings
· There are many historic villages within an hour’s drive including Molong, Canowindra, and Carcoar.
· Canowindra has the interesting Age of Fishes Museum.
